California Baby bottles are HDPE (high density polyethylene)—a material that is safe and BPA and phthalate free. We’ve added 25% post consumer content (PCR) to our bottles contributing to our recycling efforts from the beginning to the end of the bottle life-cycle. HDPE is accepted by most recycling facilities across the country.

The addition of PCR material made our already stiff bottles stiffer and difficult to squeeze resulting in frustrating shampooing. Since we are committed to our PCR and opposed to using plasticizers such as phthalates that make bottles more flexible, changing bottle material was not an option; so I chose to make the product thinner thus easier to dispense with a light squeeze from mom or kids.

Yes, it is counter intuitive to make a product thinner yet make it more ‘concentrated.’ But it’s true! The trick is in the % of ingredients (solids) to water. Every shampoo and bubble bath contains water—it is never 100% cleanser. We formulated with even more organic aloe vera to soothe sensitive skin and soap bark to help keep scalp healthy.  Our new formula is even more soothing to irritated skin with eczema, dermatitis, etc.   As always, our low-foaming cleansers are naturally tear-free without the use of numbing agents.

When you pour it in your hand, it’s light but feels rich and thick because the cleansing agents are more concentrated skin.  Our new slightly modified shampoo & bodywashes do a quicker job cleaning too. So if you have to wash your hair two or even three times with our old shampoo, you will find that one cleansing does the job, and now, two washes is too much. We adjusted our pump to give out less product too—because less product is needed to do the job of cleansing hair and skin but our new formula is even more soothing to irritated skin like eczema Our bubble bath is updated as well, so you it might look a little “looser” but it is as gentle as it ever.
